Friends and supporters gathered at Reef restaurant on July 21, 2009 as we celebrated two important events in the life of our Midtown Health Center. First and foremost, the center was formally christened the W.T. and Louise J. Moran Health Center, John S. Dunn Building, in recognition of the two cornerstone gifts making the center possible. Second, attendees celebrated the topping-out of the three-level structure.
Among our honored guests at the mid-summer event was His Eminence Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, D.D., S.T.L., Archbishop of Galveston-Houston. The new, multi-faceted clinic, which will offer medical, dental and mental heath services, is scheduled to begin operating this winter. A collaboration of San José Clinic, Catholic Charities of our Archdiocese, and CHRISTUS Foundation, the new health center will dramatically improve health-care access for many thousands of uninsured and under served Houstonians. The center will also serve as the new base for our CHRISTUS Healthy Living Mobile Clinic.

Join us on Saturday, October 16, 2010 for a fifty-mile, Blue Knight police-escorted motorcycle ride from Houston to Galveston. The 2010 Nun Run benefits the children and families of CHRISTUS school-based clinics. Your donation will help provide flu vaccines, health education and screenings, back-to-school supplies and the promise of a brighter Christmas.
Non-riders can participate by pledging or donating gifts in support of the adventurous nuns. Proceeds directly benefit the children and families cared for by CHRISTUS ministries. There will be awards, prizes, breakfast, lunch and rides! Sidecars welcome.
