At the October 2011 Roundtable breakfast, R. Stan Marek, President and CEO of The Marek Family of Companies presented Immigration at the Crossrodas 2011 – a discussion of the current state of US immigration policy, how it impacts our community, and what needs to be done to fix the system. The event was held at the W.T. and Louise J. Moran Health Center/John S. Dunn Building.

Dr. Rebecca Lee, Director of the Obesity Research Center at the University of Houston, recently addressed attendees at the CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare monthly Breakfast Roundtable.
Her presentation about obesity shed light on what is being called an “epidemic” by many scholars and policy makers, and what may indeed be the single biggest public-health challenge facing our nation today. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 34 percent of U.S. adults were defined as obese in 2009.

At the May 2011 Roundtable breakfast, Dr. Rebecca Lee presented "Reversing the Obesogenic Environment," an extremely informative overview our community's current obesity problem. Dr. Lee's research will be very useful as CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare works to bring health, education and wellness to the most vulnerable in our community.

On the morning of February 23, 2011, guests gathered at the Moran Health Center to hear from Dr. Steve Murdock, an expert on socioeconomic and population trends impacting the Houston area and the nation. Dr. Murdock is Director, Hobby Center for the Study of Texas and Allyn and Gladys Cline Professor, Department of Sociology, Rice University.
