Group That Helps Feed Homeless in Need Itself

Christus Our Daily Bread is coping with increased needs in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, utilizing telepsychiatric sessions, networking with the Salvation Army’s overnight shelters, and putting out the call for more help for its meal ministry.

The day respite ministry for the homeless in Galveston rebuilt its facility after the 2008 storm and retooled services. The number of homeless had increased; the need for mental health support and addiction counseling had increased; resources had changed.
