Mobile Clinic Gives Helping Hand to Hurricane Ike Victims

In December 2008, CHRISTUS Healthy Living Mobile Clinic visited San Leon, Texas to provide health screenings and immunizations to the members of the small community. This town near the Texas coastline was severely impacted by Hurricane Ike. CHRISTUS Healthy Living Mobile Clinic, Verizon Wireless and First Baptist Church or Gautier, Mississippi were all stationed at San Leon Community Church to help meet the needs of local residents. The mobile unit provided health screenings, Tetanus and Flu vaccinations as well as distributed blankets to the community’s senior citizens. Verizon Wireless provided a telephone station for residents who were without electricity, and First Baptist Church provided washers, dryers, and food to recovering residents. Santa Claus was also on site giving gifts to children.
