More than 450 riders and guests were in attendance on rally day, while funds from Nun Run participants and donors have already eclipsed $100,000.

It was a busy day at McAdams Junior High as staff from Dickinson Independent School District (DISD) gathered to register new 6th-graders. CHRISTUS Foundation School Based Clinics collaborated with the school's nurse to provide the many immunizations needed at this point in each student’s life.

With another school year just around the corner, a number of CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare ministries are already helping students and families prepare for the return to the classroom.
As has become an annual tradition, the CHRISTUS Healthy Living Mobile Clinic is hitting the streets with its Back to School Immunization Drive. Last year, the Mobile Clinic administered approximately 5,800 immunizations, including flu shots, to school-bound children and expect to see a similar number of youngsters this year.

For most grade-school students, class wasn’t in session, but important lessons were still learned this summer thanks to the professionals of CHRISTUS School Based Clinics.
Throughout June, a free summer program dubbed “Healthy Weighs” taught 4th, 5th, 6th and 7h graders at St. Pius V and Our Lady of Guadalupe the value of nutrition, health education and physical activity.

In response to the critical need for affordable healthcare in many Greater Houston communities, CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare has introduced the Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative.
Through a synergistic relationship among three vital CHRISTUS Foundation ministries, the Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative provides a continuum of care to families for whom medical care is often deemed an unaffordable luxury until illnesses have progressed and emergency care is required.

As of October 20, 2009, CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare is happy to report that this year's Nun Run has generated $82,000 and donations are still coming in. There were more than 370 ride participants, numerous cheerleaders and volunteer supporters. What a great turn-out! The Foundation could not have pulled off such a successful event without all of YOU!
