CHRISTUS VNA Hospice and Palliative Care

Paving a Peaceful Path Out of Our Earthly Life

Completing one’s life with dignity and purpose is truly a blessing. The specialists of CHRISTUS Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) Hospice and Palliative Care programs offer those with terminal illness this peaceful path. Patients receive hospice care to alleviate pain, as they live in the comfort of their homes, while families of those departing our world are offered continuing support throughout the process.

The Ministry of Hospice Care

The term “hospice” describes the services needed by persons who are preparing to journey from this life to the next. Hospice is a philosophy and specialized service focused on the person and the family facing a life-limiting illness.

Through an interdisciplinary team, an individual plan of care is established that addresses pain and physical symptoms, emotional and spiritual needs, as well as legal and practical arrangements.

As a ministry of CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare, the CHRISTUS VNA program continues the mission of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, by extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to all those in need, without regard to the ability to pay.

Referrals are accepted by anyone, including the patient, his or her family and the attending health-care professionals. A registered nurse regularly visits the patient, helping the caregiver with medication, instructions and schedules. These health-care professionals are available 24 hours a day to provide support.
