Fourth Grader Grateful for Glasses

Portrait

Healthy eyes and clear vision enhance children’s developmental, emotional and physical well being. But how would you know if vision problems exist? Understandably, children frequently accept their poor vision as normal, because they don’t know better. Thanks to our Foundation’s supporters, this issue is being addressed by school nurses and the Wee See Program in the Clear Creek and Dickinson ISDs. When Nurse Cathy Hunt was told that Anthony Castellanos, a fourth grader at Dickinson’s Hughes Road Elementary, was easily distracted in class and preferred to be close to the marker board, Cathy checked and found Anthony needing eyeglasses, which he now wears with pride and gratitude.
