A Vehicle for Care, A Movement for Health

Working with a generous individual and CHRISTUS Corporate Partner, Allegiance Bank, CHRISTUS Foundation added a second Healthy Living Mobile Clinic. The new Healthy Living Mobile Clinic will immediately head out into the community and begin caring for the under-served throughout greater Houston.

2013 Highlights

  • With the addition of the second mobile clinic, 37 new clinics sites were added to the clinic schedule in 2013
  • During the flu season, January - March and September-December, 7,052 flu shots were administered
  • Focusing on the prevention of communicable diseases—70 children’s immunizations clinics were held and 3,321 vaccines were administered
  • 4,224 lipid panel tests and 136 diabetes detecting labs were provided
  • Many uninsured and under-served people don’t have a medical home - the Mobile Clinic staff provided 585 referrals to CHRISTUS St. Mary’s Clinic and convenient low-cost clinics for patients who needed primary care
  • 237 uninsured women received Well Woman exams at 20 Well Women’s Clinics
  • During the month of October, supporting Breast Cancer Awareness month, 500 breast cancer awareness education packets were distributed
  • 6,347 elderly patients received care for diabetes, hypertension, bronchitis, pneumonia, and upper respiratory infections. Many also received flu and shingles vaccinations. 500 care packets and 200 blankets were distributed to seniors during the holidays
