CHRISTUS Literacy Center’s program of study includes personalized, beginning-level instruction for clients new to English, and group classes for clients as they progress in their language skills and gain social confidence. Each student is encouraged to learn at a pace suited to his or her ability. Instruction and classes are tailored to fit these individual needs.

The curriculum features extensive computer-assisted training using the Rosetta Stone® Language Learning Software and the three-level English Connections series of texts.

Twice-weekly classes immerse students in English to bolster their ability to read, write and use numeracy, to handle information, to express ideas and opinions, to make decisions and solve problems as family members, workers and citizens. The center’s free-to-all literacy classes include—

• English as a Second Language (ESL)
• English grammar, spelling and reading
• English conversation.
